Description: This talk will cover a brief history of Emorsgate Seeds from its beginnings in 1980 to the current day. It will explore the various techniques for native seed production and how native seed can be used to create and restore species-rich grasslands. The session will cover key principles for success, including site assessment, soil preparation, seed selection, and establishment techniques. It will also highlight how native grasslands can enhance biodiversity, resilience and human health and wellbeing, while offering practical guidance on long term management. Laurie is one third of Emorsgate Seeds, working alongside her sisters Mischa and Myrica and a dedicated team of specialists to produce over 250 species of wild flower and grass seeds native to the British Isles. As a habitat and grassland advisor with a degree in Conservation Biology, she specialises in sustainable seed production, using techniques such as brush harvesting to capture local genetic diversity.
