Focus: Moths
Description: This is an Eventbrite meeting organised by The Friends of Sydney Gardens in collaboration with Bath Natural History Society.
Refreshments included.
The Pavilion will be open for use including toilet and kitchen facilities.
There will be a variety of moths identification field guides available for reference.
Two moth traps will be run locally in Bathwick/Walcot area and transported a short distance to be opened in Sydney Gardens. The number and variety of moths caught (to be released unharmed in the evening in the gardens where trapped) will depend on weather conditions overnight.
The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the public to the value of moths within the ecosystem and establish further records of moths in Bathwick for Butterfly Conservation. A unique opportunity to get ‘’up close and personal’’ with theses extraordinary insects.
Please book through Eventbrite in advance. Members can find contact details in their Spring/Summer 2026 newsletter. This has several benefits for all meetings: the Leader is aware who is coming and can deal with any queries before the meeting (such as car-sharing, if required); in the unlikely event that arrangements need to change or the meeting has to be cancelled, attendees can all be contacted promptly and easily.
If you have booked but then are unable to attend, please contact the leader as soon as possible. The leader can then contact other members if there is a waiting list.
