Kingsgate Park and Yate Common

September 17 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Leader: Alvan White
Bookings: Alvan White
Start: 10:30
Finish: 15:30
Meeting place: Western end of Kingsgate Park, BS37 4JB. Explorer 167 (ST 712 819). Roadside parking central to both sites is available near or at St Briavels Drive, BS37 4EZ (ST 709 816).
Focus: Flora and fauna, but possible migrant birds and to include insects.
Description: A slow walk covering the park, with its lake and uncut grassy areas. We move on to the next site, Yate Common (formerly known as Westerleigh Common), which has large areas of scrub and two ponds so there should be a wealth of insects and some dragonflies. There might well be migrant birds. Picnic in the park or alternative refreshment at The Cakery nearby.

Please book with the Leader in advance. Members can find contact details in their Spring/Summer 2024 newsletter. This has several benefits for all meetings: the Leader is aware who is coming and can deal with any queries before the meeting (such as car-sharing, if required); in the unlikely event that arrangements need to change or the meeting has to be cancelled, attendees can all be contacted promptly and easily.
If you have booked but then are unable to attend, please contact the leader as soon as possible. The leader can then contact other members if there is a waiting list.
