Fungi At Lord’s Wood, Near Pensford

Meet: Birchwood Lane, by the entrance to the NW corner of the wood. OS Grid Ref ST631633
From Chelwood Roundabout, take A37 north. Birchwood Lane is on the right about 0.6km north of the roundabout. Parking by the wood is limited so please lift share if possible.
Focus: Fungi and other autumn wildlife
Description: Slow walk, looking at fungi and bryophytes in particular, through mixed woodland on the Somerset Coalfield, where the underlying Carboniferous sandstones and shale result in acidic soils in places. There are two lakes and several small streams. Paths may be muddy, so stout footwear is recommended. Please bring a packed lunch.
