Focus: Arachnids
Description: The day will involve exploring various habitats around the farm site looking mostly for arachnids. This will involve short walks followed by periods of using various collection techniques including sifting, shaking of branches etc. then examining what we find and attempting some IDs using field guides. I will be happy to take questions about spiders as we walk.
The terrain will be very variable ranging from tall grass, farm paths and woody areas, so stout footwear is recommended. Please be aware that this is a working farm and we may encounter farm animals around the site. Some areas are quite exposed, so I would recommend appropriate weather protections. Attendees may wish to bring something to sit on during the examination of specimens.
Although there is a café on site, this currently does not open on Mondays so attendees should bring their own refreshments.
