SUMMARY:80th Anniversary Exhibition at BRLSI (closed Sundays)
DESCRIPTION:Bath Natural History Society turns 80! Pop in to BRLSI to see the exhibition and meet our helpful volunteers.\n80th Anniversary Exhibition at BRLSI\,  Queen Square\, Bath from 7 to 25 October 2021 Monday to Saturday\, 10am to 4pm.\nThe Bath Nats have been recording the variety of wildlife found in the city and its surrounds since 1941. This exhibition illustrates the significant changes that have occurred over the years. There are examples from early floras and from Birds of the Bath Area in 1945\, together with records from a multitude of field visits to the woodlands\, downlands\, riverside and parks that make the area so attractive. Losses and gains among different bird species are discussed\, including the declining numbers of farmland species\, and the welcome appearance of birds that have suffered from persecution in the past. Notable newcomers include Buzzards and Peregrine falcons and we can soon expect to see parakeets! Current activities of the Bath Nats are described\, examples being the wildlife of Smallcombe Cemetery and our regular studies of moths. The exhibition also includes details of local nature walks along the river Avon and on the skyline.
