Battlesbury Hill, Warminster, Wiltshire

July 25 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

(This event precedes the Malaby Gas Biodigester tour, also at Warminster)
Leader: Phillip Delve
Bookings: Phillip Delve
Start: 12:30
Finish: approx. 15:30
Meeting place: Explorer 153 (ST 893 452). Take the Imber Road from Warminster, drive through the MOD houses, turn right towards Battlesbury Barracks just before the rise of Sack Hill, follow the avenue of trees, then turn left just short of the barrack gates to park on the wide concrete road there.
Focus: Chalk grassland, birds, butterflies and plants
Description: A 3km walk, over chalk grassland, with scrub and some woodland. We will follow a path up a gentle slope to walk around the hilltop, which provides good views of the Salisbury Plain. Walking boots or stout shoes recommended and be aware the hilltop can be exposed in poor weather.

Please book with the Leader in advance. Members can find contact details in their Spring/Summer 2024 newsletter. This has several benefits for all meetings: the Leader is aware who is coming and can deal with any queries before the meeting (such as car-sharing, if required); in the unlikely event that arrangements need to change or the meeting has to be cancelled, attendees can all be contacted promptly and easily.
If you have booked but then are unable to attend, please contact the leader as soon as possible. The leader can then contact other members if there is a waiting list.
