Hazelbury Common (aka Wadswick Common)

6th August 2022 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm

Leader: Geoff Hiscocks
Please note attendance is limited to a maximum of 10 places.
Start: 10:30
Meet: In the public car park in Box behind Selwyn Hall, Valens Lane, off A4.
GR ST 823686 Landranger 173/Explorer 156. There is very limited parking space at the Common itself. There will be a walk up the A365 from the car park for just over a mile to the site along a pavement, except for the last approx 100 yds off the main road, up a narrow lane to the Common at GR ST 837676
Finish: Approx 13:30 back in the car park
Focus: Butterflies, day flying moths, other invertebrates, and flora
Description: A walk around and across the Common covering both sides of the lane. The site is just within the defined Bath Nats Recording Area and is one of the best places to see butterflies within that recording range. 30 species are found in most years, including Chalkhill Blue from end of July and possibly Adonis Blue could be flying in early August. Fairly even walking along grassy paths, not muddy, but sturdy shoes or walking boots recommended.

Please book with the Leader in advance. Members can find contact details in their Spring and Summer 2022 newsletter. This is essential for those meetings where numbers are limited. If you book your place and are then unable to attend, please contact the Leader immediately. The leader can then contact other members if there is a waiting list.
